"FRAGMENTS" Gallery at Meltdown Comics
A Gallery, man! It took a while and loads of vigilant support from Gaston and Felicity, but here it is finally! A "Fragments" show in the premier comic book shop in L.A., Meltdown Comics.
Fragments began as a conversation between Enrico and I musing about a gallery of work from both of us--a physical place where you hang framed artwork and people visiting and talking, your basic wine and cheese get together but with us as the featured artists. Wouldn't that be neat? Well, rather than wait to have that happen we decided to do a color book of our sketches that simulates that gallery on paper. We also agreed to make it about the various doodles and sketches that were never purposed to be anything other than an inadvertent window to our wandering minds and itchy sketch habit; they filled files and tucked into envelopes of most artists and never have their day to shine--we will make those unconnected pieces, fragments, the core of the book!
So, in a demonstration of how active daydreaming and acting them out eventually results in the universe conspiring to make it true, here it is--a gallery! A modest one, really. Actually, since Fragments was published we had all but forgot about framing any of our work and are now just scrambling to get the show together. But we have a good number of the work in the book represented in their natural state--sans Photoshop--and you can see how a good number of the pieces were published without embellishment. Hope to see you all there.
